The underlying contract, finalized in May 2026, covers five Multi-Purpose Polar Ship (MPPS-100) vessels — designated Arctic Security Cutters — with two hulls built at Helsinki Shipyard in Finland and three at Davie's Gulf Copper facilities in Galveston and Port Arthur, Texas, according to the company's own announcement. Davie Defense CEO Philip Burns-O'Brien called the contract finalization "a major milestone in the ASC program" that "reinforces Davie Defense's role in delivering next-generation cutters to strengthen U.S. Arctic readiness and maritime security," per the company's May 2026 statement.
